'Oklahoma Be Strong': Message from West Hartford Boy Who Donated $9

On Wednesday, the American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter worked with WFSB, WNLC, WCTY, Star99FM, 95.9 The Fox and WPLR to raise funds for American Red Cross disaster relief to assist those affected by the devastation in Oklahoma.

Donations poured in from all over the area, as generous residents donated $21,453 at four locations manned by Red Cross workers from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Chief Communications Officer Paul Shipman said that for him, the best moment of the day was in Rocky Hill, at WFSB's studios, when Jonathan, a 9-year-old boy from West Hartford, who is a student at Smith STEM School, handed over this envelope, enclosing $9 and some change.
