This Sunday, patients from Connecticut Children's Medical Center will have the opportunity to ride in the kind of high-performance Italian sports cars that most people see only in their dreams or on television.
The 12th Annual Ferrari and Friends Concorso, scheduled for Sunday, July 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., will kick off from the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Specialty Care Center, 399 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, with the Parade of Children.
The Concorso focuses on enhancing the lives of children. Patients from Connecticut Children's Medical Center will ride in featured automobiles, including Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghinis, Fiats and Alfa Romeos, through the streets of West Hartford to the car show site on LaSalle Road.
There they will be greeted by a representative of the Italian government, who will name them honorary citizens of Italy.
"We are grateful for the long-standing partnership that Connecticut Children's has with Ferrari & Friends," said Robin Vidito, Director of Events for the Connecticut Children's Medical Center Foundation. "It is an honor to be involved with the Concorso event, and to have the tremendous support of the New England Region Ferrari Club members and the community in attendance."
"There will be some amazing and rare cars on display from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, and Fiat. It's a great day to see some great cars and smiles on the kid's faces when they are let out of the cars in the parade!" said Mike Coviello, chairman of the event and member of the Ferrari Club of America/New England Region, the sponsor of the Concorso.
The event is a benefit for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and Make a Wish. Hundreds are expected to view the automobiles when they are on display on LaSalle Road.
The event is open to the public and there is no admission charge. Additional event details, including sponsorship and registration information, are available at www.ferrariandfriends.com.
