A Word on West Hartford Sports, Town Council Meeting, Help Bag Hunger

Here are five things going on in the week ahead.

Good morning, West Hartford! Today is Monday, Sept. 9, 2013; there are 113 days left in the year.

Friends, I love covering sports.

With the fall sports season opening this week, I want to just note for the record what I’m sure you already know.

I don’t play favorites; I root for Hall, Conard and Northwest Catholic equally, except when they play one another. Then I respectfully root for a well-played tie, with no injuries.

If one team or school is being covered in an unbalanced fashion, I can assure you that it is merely a function of my scheduling rather than by preference.

And with that, I say Go Warriors, Chieftains and Indians!

Here are a few things going on this week:

1. The West Hartford Planning and Zoning Commission meets Monday at 7 p.m.

2. The West Hartford Town Council meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. There is a public hearing at 7:15 p.m. on revising the jurisdiction of the Human Rights Commission.

3. As I mentioned earlier, the scholastic fall sports season begins Tuesday; I will be out and about covering as many games and matches and meets as possible.

4. I’ll be bagging at the Help Bag Hunger event at ShopRite on Sept. 12. Be sure to stop by for a great cause.

5. The West Hartford firefighters’ union will host its annual beer tasting event on Friday the 13th. Awesome.
