Here are five things going on in the area today:
1. The West Hartford Board of Education meets Tuesday at 7 p.m.
2. The high school winter sports season gets underway this week with the West Hartford girls ice hockey team taking on Wilton on Monday. Conard, Hall and Northwest Catholic Girls and boys basketball teams, as well as wrestling teams have matches later in the week.
3. West Hartford Women in Networking is scheduled to meet on Dec. 19.
4. The World of Downton Abbey at the West Hartford Library on Dec. 17 at 7 p.m.5. There’s a food allergy/intolerance group at ShopRite on Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m.
