Here are five things going on in West Hartford this week.

Good morning, West Hartford! Today is Monday, Oct. 14, 2013; there are 78 days left in the year.

So now my baby is teething. Which means he drools a lot and tries to eat everything.

Apple didn’t fall too far from the tree there.

But the one thing I didn’t realize is that he’d try to eat the old man. No lie, I picked him up yesterday and put him against me, and he tried to take a hunk out of my stomach.

Should have named him Hannibal instead of Peter.

Here are five things going on in the week ahead:

1. It’s Columbus Day, so take some time to remember an awful human being or just rename the day Bartolome Day, as The Oatmeal has done.

2. The West Hartford Board of Education meets Tuesdayat 7 p.m.

3. Pamela Atwood, director of Dementia Care Services at Hebrew Health Care, will be facilitating an Alzheimer’s and dementia seminar on Tuesday at 8 a.m.

4. Open House at the School for Young Children on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

5. Unified Theater has a Zumba fundraiser on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Sedgwick Middle School.
