Cagers Roll On

The West Hartford 6th Grade travel basketball team was victorious in recent games against Wolcott, Hartford, Bloomfield and Canton, extending its winning streak to 10 games.

WH 49, Wolcott 31
February 1, 2014. Tyrell Middle School, Wolcott.

The Cagers went on the road to extend their winning streak to seven games defeating Wolcott 49-31. West Hartford broke open its 3 point half-time lead with a third quarter scoring attack led by Jaden DiMauro (9 PTS), Jack Krugman (7 PTS, 5 AST, 5 STL) and Ethan Lavalley (7 PTS). The Cagers, led by the scrappy play of Tyler Marino (2pts, 5 Reb, 4 Steals, 1 AST), kept Wolcott at bay for much of the second half with its full cournt press.

February 2, 2014. Wilson-Gray YMCA, Hartford.

West Harttford went into a full court press from the opening tap and held Hartford to 24 points. Brian Puleo's (3 PTS, 1 AST, 2 STL) energetic play and Will Fox's 7 straight points in the third quarter helped seal the victory for the Cagers.

February 8, 2014. King Philip Middle School.

James Travers (9PTS, 10 REB, 3 BLK, 3 STL) turned in a dominant performance to lead West Hartford over visiting Bloomfiled, 43-33 at The Cage. Point guards George Andrews and Jack Tousignant spearheaded West Hattford's relentless, full court defense, never letting Bloomfiled get close in the second half.

WH 43, Canton 36  
February 9, 2014. Canton High School, Canton.

Canton jumped out to a quick first quarter lead, but West Hartford managed to keep it close behind six first half points from sharp shooting Ethan Lavalley. As usual, the Cagers came out with great second half energy, taking the lead early in the third quarter and never looking back.  Jack Tousigant (9 PTS) and Will Fox (9 PTS) paced the offensive attack in the second half and, with his agressive play, Jack Krugman filled the stat sheet once again with 7 rebounds, 6 assists and four steals. Undersized against the Canton front court, Gabe Salomons controlled the glass for West Hartford.
