WInter Weather Update: Tuesday December 17th 1:30 PM

The Alberta Clipper continues to send in mild to moderate waves of snow at West Hartford and the maps are indicating a slightly bigger event than what was forecast last night.  A pair of blocking high's (the big 'H's' off the eastern seaboard on the attached map) are causing the cold air to stay in place over CT and slowing the storm down a bit.  Accordingly, the National Weather Service has extended the Winter Weather Advisory until 10:00 PM tonight.  Look for mild to moderate bursts of snow with occasional breaks to continue throughout the afternoon and evening rush.  I think six inches is not out of the question for most of Connecticut now.
