Halls Market 6 Blue Back Dental 5

This one needed 7 innings to decide a winner.  Halls got on the board early in the bottom of the 1st 2-0 with an incredible bunt single by leadoff hitter Matthew Shea(1-4, 1 run).  He came around to score on a throwing miscue. Nick Gaglioti (3-4, 3 runs, HR, 2B) added the 2nd run on a towering solo shot. Halls added 2 more in the 3rd on hits by Gaglioti, Mike Baldini (2-3, 3B) and Josh Ort (2-3).  Matt Langevin pitched a great game allowing only 2 Runs over 4 innings with 8 strikeouts.
BBD clawed back and scored 3 runs off Josh Ort to tie the game in the top of the 6th.  BBD hitting was lead by Falvey (2-3).  Halls held BBD in the top of the 7th when Nick Gaglioti struckout the first 2 batters he faced and the 3rd ground out.  Halls scored the winning run in the bottom of the 7th when Gaglioti lead off with a double went to 3rd on a steal and scored the winning run on a passed ball.  
 
Naji Middleton and Tanner Bruttomesso had the Halls hitters off balance with a combined strikeout total of 11.

Talcott Transmissions 5 Connors Insurance 1

Dominic Niman and Ben Castro had back to back doubles to give Talcott an early 1-0 lead after one inning. In the bottom of the 3rd, Niman walked and Castro tripled him home to take a slight 2-0 advantage.  Connors made it a 2-1 game in the top of the 4th on a Tim Andrews walk and a Jared Reisner double. Talcott added two runs on a Nathan White double, a Ryan Farley single and Thomas Cullen single to extend the lead to 4-1.  Talcott added another in the bottom of the 5th on a Dominic Niman Homerun. His third of the season.  Hitting stars for Talcott were Dominic Niman(2H,HR,2R,3R,BB,1RBI), Ben Castro(2H,Double,Triple,1R,2 RBI),Thomas Cullen(1H,2RBI),Nathan White(Double,R),Ryan Farley(Hit,R). Connors hitting stars were Timmy "The Tank" Andrews with 2 hits,BB,R and Jared Reisner with a double. Matt Glassman and Josh Fernandez had walks. Talcott pitchers Ben Castro and Dominic Niman combined for 15K's,3BB and 1 run.  Connors pitchers Adam Glassman and Andrew "Crab" Gingold combined for 8K's,1BB,5R.

Cornelius 9 Mr Trophy 4

Cornelius picked up its first win of the season by beating Mr. Trophy 9-4  under the lights at Wolcott Park. The Cornelius offensive attack began with a 2-run homer by Andrew Ferrucci (3-3, 1 2B, 1 Hr, 4 R) and continued with two runs in the 3rd  and three more in the 5th with back to back doubles by Ferrucci and Ivan Ribeiro (2-4, 2 2B) and a single by Bryant Caron (2-4). The scoring ended with the 8th and 9th runs in the sixth as Ferrucci would plate his 4th run on Sean James  fielder’s choice and Ribeiro on another Caron single. Cornelius pitching held Trophy to just 1 run in five innings by Ribeiro (2 IP, 1 H, 2K, no runs), Will Hutensky (2 IP, 1H, 3K, no runs) and James (IIP, 2H, 1K, 1R).
In the bottom of the 6th Trophy mounted a come-back with 3 runs on hits by Jack McGovern (2-4), Casey Shane (2-4, 1 2B) and Jonathan Perez (2-4) but eventually ran out of outs as Max Leyland finally closed out the game.Home Runs: Andrew Ferrucci Cornelius Pitching: Riberio (2), Hutensky (2), James (1), Leyland (1)

Thursday, May 2nd

Keating Insurance 20 A.C. Petersen Farms Restaurant 2

Keating defeated AC Petersen 20-2 on Thursday night at Beachland. AC Petersen got on the board quickly when a double by leadoff man Eli Heinen was followed by a home run over the left centerfield fence from Spencer Bavaro. Keating answered back in the bottom of the first, putting up 6 runs on back-to-back doubles by Sean Hurley and Alex Dobbins and a home run by Tim Cotter.  Keating widened the lead in the bottom of the second, plating 11 runs in the inning on strong hitting up and down the order--including a home run from Dobbins and a double off the fence from Hugh Wells.  The Keating offense was led by  Andrew Skwiot (3 for 3), Hurley (3 for 3, 2B), Dobbins (3 for 3, HR, 2B), Cotter (3 for 4, HR, 2B), Wells (2 for 3, 2B), and Jack Ledwith.  Keating also got strong defensive support from Jack Tousignant and Jacob Newbury.

Venora Electric 11 Berry Insurance 5

Venora Electric notched its second in a back and forth game the featured strong pitching and hitting by both teams.  Venora took the early 2-0 lead on a scorching 3 RBI bases loaded double from Chase Rancourt.  Berry came right back with a run of its own on an RBI single from Brian Namnoum to plate David Regan.  Venora expanded its lead to 5-1 with single runs in the 2nd and 3rd on an RBI single from Zander Boehm and an RBI double from Liam Langan.  Berry narrowed the lead to 5-3 in the 4th led by a double from Namnoum and a single from Sam Musto.  Berry then tied the game 5-5 in the 5th with a double from Noah Matalon and a single from Ned Blanchard.  The Venora offense then erupted for 6 runs on 7 hits in the 5th led by a 2 run home run to centerfield from Dan Fitzsimmons, a 2 RBI double from Langan, and a 2 RBI single from Karstian Lang.  Chase Rancourt held the Berry offense scoreless in the 6th for an 11-5 victory.
 
9 different Venora hitters had a hit led by Fitzsimmons (2 for 3, 2 run HR, 2 RBI's, 2 runs), Chase Maxwell (2 for 3, run), Rancourt (2 for 3, double, 3 RBI's), Langan (2 for 3, 2 doubles, 3 RBI's), Lang (1 for 3, 2 RBI's), and Boehm (1 for 1, RBI).  Tobey Siegel had his first major league hit.  The Berry offense was led by Matalon (double, run), Blanchard (2 for 3), Regan (1 for 1, RBI), and Namnoum (2 for 3, single, double, 2 RBI's).
 
Fitzsimmons pitched into the 5th inning for Venora and was dominant at times with 8 K's.  Rancourt came on in the 5th to strand a runner at 3rd and then pitched a scoreless 6th with 2 K's for the relief win.  Blanchard, Regan (5 K's, 1 unearned run), and Griffin Van Rye split the pitching for Berry.  Andrew Wendorff played great at catcher for Berry with a nice catch at the fence and no passed balls.  Chase Maxwell made a nice diving play at 2B for Venora.
