Elizabeth Park

Flag as Inappropriate

The 102-acre Elizabeth Park was once the estate of industrialist Charles M. Pond, who willed it to the City of Hartford to be used as a horticultural park named after his wife, Elizabeth. The park, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, boasts a world-class rose garden with 15,000 bushes that create a spectacular display every spring. While the park is managed by the City of Hartford, its property extends into West Hartford. Besides the rose garden, greenhouses, lawns and picnic areas, the park is home to the Pond House Cafe and has athletic facilities for tennis, lawn bowling, croquet and baseball.
