While Hall High School's present-day facility was built in 1970, the school has been around since 1872. It was named after William H. Hall, who was its first principal and later the superintendent of schools in West Hartford. Hall has about 1,500 students in grades 9-12. It was ranked one of America's Best High Schools by Newsweek magazine in 2010.
