The University of Connecticut - Greater Hartford Campus serves students from more than 80 towns with a wide range of…More undergraduate and graduate programs. About 2,000 students take classes at the sprawling campus, which sits at the corner of Trout Brook Road and Aslyum Avenue.
The precursor to UConn's Greater Hartford Campus opened in 1939 with classes at Hartford Public High School. In 1960, the state bought the present 56-acre site from the Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company. Different graduate and undergraduate programs have operated at the site since then.
Today, the Greater Hartford Campus offers undergraduate programs in American studies, general studies, business and technology, English, human development and family studies, psychology, and urban and community studies. Graduate programs include a master's in public administration and social work, as well as a doctorate in social work, and a teacher certification program for college graduates.
UConn's Greater Hartford Campus is also home to the Connecticut Cooperative Extension Program and the state historian, among other offices and agencies.
