BlumShapiro 5K For Charity at the Travelers Championship Set for June 8

BlumShapiro will once again host the BlumShapiro 5K For Charity at the Travelers Championship on June 8 at the TPC River Highlands in Cromwell. “For the fifth consecutive year, BlumShapiro is proud to support the greater Hartford community, runners, walkers and their families, and the Travelers Championship with a 5K and a Kids Fun Run,” said Carl Johnson, Managing Partner of BlumShapiro. “Every year the BlumShapiro 5K For Charity kicks off a series of charitable events at the Travelers Championship that bring people together to help support numerous non-profit organizations in our area. It’s a tradition we are proud to host.” The BlumShapiro Kids Fun Run begins at 8:00 a.m., and the 5K race and walk start at 8:30 a.m. on June 8. Both races and walk take place along the Cromwell roads that line the fairways, greens and new practice facility at TPC River Highlands. Prior to and after the Kids Fun Run, children will be treated to many activities, including face painting, games, cartoon characters, clowns, jugglers, balloon artists and caricaturists. All activities will start at 7:00 a.m. and end at approximately 11:00 a.m. New to the BlumShapiro 5K this year is that runners and walkers can choose to donate $10 of their race fee to the charity of their choice. In addition, all participants will be given one ticket valid for any one day admission to the 2013 Travelers Championship. Charities will also benefit in two additional ways by signing up the most runners and raising the most money for the BlumShapiro 5K. Top teams in each category will receive $2,000, with second place teams receiving $1,000 and third place teams receiving $500.
