St. Thomas the Apostle School Girl Scouts receive Bronze Award

On June 5th, the St. Thomas the Apostle School 5th grade Junior Girl Scout Troop 10490 was awarded the BRONZE AWARD by Deputy Mayor of West Hartford, Shari Cantor and Girl Scout District Leader Karen Kaser.  The Bronze Award is the highest achievement for a Junior Girl Scout and St. Thomas the Apostle School was the only troop in West Hartford to receive the award.

After months of studying the "Let’s Move Campaign" initiated by Michelle Obama, the troop earned the award by planning and hosting a "Healthy Carnival" on May 22nd at the St. Thomas the Apostle School. The fair showcased five ways for kids to grow up healthy.  Students and their families of the school were invited to visit exhibits that shared information the troop learned and played interactive games based on the health and carnival themes.  The troop was led by Cory Bowie, co-leader Lynne Meier.
