Lux Boutique Offers Fun, Unique Fashion

Fashion savvy shoppers who don't want to turn up at an event as an accidental twin of another woman in the room are likely to enjoy shopping at Lux Boutique.

Owner Patti Liquori said that her typical customers are women who like to shop often, and like "fun stuff you won't find anywhere else."

Liquori opened the new West Hartford Center store on July 1, and keeps it stocked with an ever-changing inventory of fun, trendy, and moderately-priced women's clothing and accessories.

"I only order six of each item. When it's gone, it's gone," she said. Liquori buys her merchandise in LA and New York.

The denim is "designer denim," she said, and includes brands such as DL 1961, Silver Denim, and Hudson Jeans. The tops are mostly from boutique designers.

Liquori has a fashion merchandising degree from FIT in New York, and has done a "little bit of everything" in the past working for a designer. She did a lot of styling in New York and said that she really loves to "dress people, put outfits together," choosing the best items for a woman's body type.

Lux Boutique already has a store in East Longmeadow, MA, but Liquori believes West Hartford is the ideal spot for another location. "I've always loved West Hartford. It has really good energy, a young professional crowd, and there's always something to do," she said. There are already several other fashion boutiques in the Center, but Lux complements the others because it has a totally different style, Liquori said.

In addition to clothing, Lux also offers jewelry, accessories, and shoes. Liquori will soon add a selection of Rebecca Minkoff bags, she said. The store doesn't sell undergarments, but does have a selection of lacy camis and "sticky boobs" as well as double-stick tape to handle fashion emergencies and avoid wardrobe malfunctions.

Lux Boutique is located at 968 Farmington Ave., West Hartford. Unlike many West Hartford Center retail businesses, the store is open from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. They are open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon until 4 p.m.

Liquori said that Lux is also hiring – experience required.
