Suburban Home Medical Inc., with locations on South Street and North Main Street, has apparently closed.
While no official statement has been issued, both stores were closed on Monday afternoon, with the lights turned out and no employees present.
In addition, the company's telephone number redirects callers to Evis Medical Equipment in Hartford. An Evis customer service representative said that Suburban had closed its doors about a week and a half ago.
A sign hung on Suburban's North Main Street door directs customers to Liggett Suburban Pharmacy, which is attached to Suburban. A Liggett assistant manager said that a sign on the medical supply company's door used to say that the store was closed for remodeling.
Liggett Suburban Pharmacy remains in business.
The Suburban Home Medical website has also been take down.
