Westfarms, the region’s premier shopping destination, announces the opening of the state’s first Kiehl’s Since 1851 store on Friday, April 12. The store will be located on the mall’s upper level in the Nordstrom wing and will offer its exclusive skin and hair care line, derived from unique and natural ingredients. “We are excited to see Kiehl’s Since 1851 open its first free standing skin care store in Connecticut at Westfarms,” says Westfarms Marketing Director Christa Allen. “Kiehl’s Since 1851 has a long standing heritage of quality and service and its brand is a perfect fit for our shoppers. After years as an ambitious apprentice, John Kiehl purchased the business and began operating under the Kiehl name, serving the burgeoning New York community with unique herbal remedies. In 1921, John Kiehl’s apprentice, Mr. Irving “Doc” Morse, purchased the business and expanded it to a full-service pharmacy, stocking medicines, tinctures, and the first Kiehl’s-branded products. Doc Morse, a pharmacist and herbologist, passed the business on to his son, Aaron, himself a chemist and avid motorcyclist and aviator.
