Use of Cell Phone While Driving Leads to West Hartford Heroin Arrest

Anthony Dones, 32, of Hartford, was allegedly in possession of 70 bags of heroin.

A Hartford man is facing a litany of drug charges after he was pulled over by West Hartford police on New Park Avenue for using his cell phone while driving on July 31.

After he was pulled over, Anthony Dones, 32, of Hartford, was allegedly found to be in possession of 70 bags of heroin and $2,000 in cash.

Dones was charged with illegal possession of narcotics, illegal manufacturing, distribution, sale or prescription of narcotics, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana, plate illegible and use of a cell phone while driving.

Bond was set at $75,000. Dones is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Aug. 15.
