West Hartford Man Killed Early Sunday in Wrong-Way Accident

State Police report that one man was killed and another man was critically injured in the accident on I-84.

A West Hartford man who was driving eastbound on I-84 was killed early Sunday morning when his vehicle was reportedly struck by a driver headed westbound in the eastbound lanes, State Police said.

Christian Romero, 20, of West Hartford was driving eastbound on I-84 near exit 40 in West Hartford when his pickup truck collided with a Honda Accord driven by Meny Lam, 46, of Waterbury. According to police, Lam's vehicle was headed in the wrong direction on the highway.

Lam suffered life-threatening injuries and is still in critical condition, police said Sunday evening.

The accident occurred shortly after 1:30 a.m. The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours.
