[Updated] New Principal Named at Hall High School

Announcement made Tuesday by Superintendent of West Hartford Public Schools

Superintendent of West Hartford Public Schools Dr. Karen List announced Tuesday that Daniel Zittoun, who is currently assistant principal at Daniel Hand High School in Madison, will be the new principal at Hall High School.

Zittoun has been at Daniel Hand since 2005, and in addition to serving as assistant principal also coaches varsity girls track and is assistant field hockey coach.

In a release sent to the Hall community Tuesday afternoon, List described Zittoun as being "approachable, a listener, strong work ethic, highly visible, welcoming to parents, excellent communication skills, decisive, very visible, creates a positive school climate, responsive, and able to translate vision into action."

List announced the appointment to the Board of Education Tuesday evening. "Dan [Zittoun] was with us this afternoon when we met with the faculty," List said. When she headed to Whiting Lane to announce the appointment of their new principal, Zittoun showed what kind of a guy he is, and how much he is looking forward to his new role. List said. "He said, 'Is it okay if I stay and wander around the building and stop and talk with teachers?'"

According to the release, Zittoun has spent his entire career working in education in Madison, formerly serving as an instructional technology specialist and as a fifth grade teacher.

He has a B.S. and M.A. from the University of Connecticut, as well as a 6th year in Educational Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University.

Thomas Einhorn has served as interim principal since the departure of Dr. Donald Slater last fall to a role as chief operating officer with the Hartford Public Schools.
